Purchased these to replace halogen recessed lights in our boat. Quality is nothing special. The light and the square trim ring are all plastic. They don't get hot and barely use energy. I've had one burn out after a month. I purchased extras expecting this. The color temperature of the light is a nice cross between bright white and warm white. The diffused lens helps from getting vision spots if you look into one. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase. The only thing that concerns me is the burn out rate. But, only time will tell. If they start to burn out, I might try adding capacitors on the wires to help smooth the power flow.
It's been a year plus without any failures. These lights are great if you're on a budget. I will say though that the square chrome bezel looks kinda tacky. However, they do make a round one. We've decided to replace these with another light that just came out which I'll review after we install them.
Below is a picture of the light housing style that we replaced with these. It's a fairly common unit from the late 90s to the mid 2000s.
The Dream Lighting LED Square Recessed Down light 3.5W is slightly smaller in diameter than these lights. By using screws we were able to get them to stay in the hole.
